What we collect
The photo you upload and the settings you choose (crop, size, difficulty, title). Your browser shrinks the photo and removes location and camera data before sending it. The photo is turned into your kit on our own server in the UK and is never shown to anyone else, shared or used to train anything.
To limit how many kits one person can make a day, we keep a scrambled code made from your internet address (a one-way hash that changes every day), never the address itself. These codes are deleted after two days.
How long we keep it
Your photo and kit files are deleted automatically 1 hour after upload, or straight away when you press “Delete my files now”. If an automatic deletion ever fails, our storage removes the leftovers within a day.
Who else is involved
The site runs on Cloudflare, which stores the files for that hour and keeps technical logs of requests for 3 days (we've switched off the part of the address that holds your private link). The human check on the upload page is Cloudflare Turnstile; it only loads once you choose a photo. If the page itself hits a bug, it sends us a short error report (what went wrong and in which browser, nothing about you or your photo). Visitor statistics come from Cloudflare too (see below). Nothing else on the site comes from anyone else: no adverts from ad networks, no social buttons, and the fonts are our own copies.
Animal face points: AP-10K dataset (Yu et al., NeurIPS 2021), CC BY 4.0.
Visitor statistics
To see whether the site is working for people, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics. It sets no cookies and doesn't follow you across other sites. We only see totals, such as page views, which sites sent visitors, country and device type.
You can switch it off here, and it stays off on every page in this browser. If your browser sends a privacy signal (Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track), we already treat that as off.
Accounts and cookies
There are no accounts and we set no cookies. Your browser remembers your current kit (in local storage) so you can come back to it until it expires, and remembers if you switch off visitor statistics.
Your photos
The copyright in a photo belongs to whoever took it, so please use your own photos or ones you've been given.
